The Devonshire Hotel and Restaurant Group have appointed Ian Smith, new Head Chef at The Devonshire Arms, Beeley.
Ian is an accomplished and military-trained Chef, whose initial years were spent at The Savoy, London following which he spent 9 years in the RAF, where he worked his way up to Corporal Catering, serving the Royal Family and VIPs internationally.
Ian also worked closely with celebrity Chef, Gary Rhodes, at Michelin-starred Rhodes in the Square in London. More recent employment has included some well-known eateries in the North, including The Farmer’s Restaurant and Gastro Pub at Welton Hill, Lincolnshire, The Black Swan at Oldstead (2 rosettes and a rising star) and The Blue Bicycle in York (1 rosette, Bib Gourmand in the Michelin guide).
Ian’s successes have been marked by a long list of regional awards and culinary achievements throughout his career showing that his standards are progressive and consistent - these include attaining 2 AA rosettes (2009), ‘Best Gastro Pub’ Lincolnshire Tourist Awards (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012,2013) , Winner ‘Best Pub Food’ (2011, 2012, 2013), Lincolnshire Life’s ‘Fine Dining Award’ (2011-2015)

‘Ian brings the ideal blend of classical training and gastro pub experience we require to take this already successful business to a new level. We are delighted that he has joined as Head Chef to manage the kitchen team here at Beeley.’
Ian is looking forward to bringing his experience to an already thriving business and to further develop the food offering at The Devonshire Arms, Beeley.
Ian is married, with a young Son. He lives in Lincolnshire and in his spare time enjoys cycling, golf and spending time with his family.
