2015 was an incredible year and I got to eat some spectacular food. Here is a list of what I feel were the highlights (in no particular order): Please excuse the awful punctuation, I am trying to keep it brief; you can always read the full review of a particular venue by clicking on the links.
I'm going to do this over six sections, the first five sections will be 25 places to eat and the last section will be something different.
Here we go with something a little different but still food related
Food Fairs
Bakewell, Belper, Great British, and Derbyshire food fairs.
Absolutely fantastic to see so many food producers showcasing their wares, and with such enthusiasm too. Everyone was having a great time at each of these fairs and I can’t wait to go to 2016’s events.
Number 45 Gin School
Read the Review
Making our own bottles of Gin was an experience the Man and I thoroughly enjoyed, not least because we got to bring them home with us. Although the Number 45 Gin school is out of the county we feel it worth a mention for its uniqueness. If you are ever stuck for a gift for someone or for an unusual team building or pre-wedding activity this is definitely worth booking onto.
Dare2Dine
Read the Review
I loved the Dare2Dine experience at the Showcase cinema at Intu, Derby. Such an innovative idea that surpassed all expectations .We loved the combination of watching an iconic film with themed food to go with it. Keeping my wings crossed that they do it again this year.
Nonnas Cookery School, Chesterfield
Read the Review
And lastly, but by no means, least, Nonnas at Chesterfield have opened a cookery school this month (January 2016) and invited me along earlier last year to experience what it would entail. Not only was the tuition from their chefs fantastic, but it was such a fun-filled, laughter-packed day that the time just flew by. I came back to the nest laden with pasta, gnocchi and ragu that I had made myself and it was a great feeling feeding the flock with my own goodies. You get a very filling lunch, with wine, and also your very own Nonnas cookery school pinny to take home. A very memorable day :)
Well thats it for 2015, I'm excited to see what 2016 will bring
Happy New Year
