Evocative of traditional Christmas cards, there is something rather heart-warming and nostalgic about a pretty English village, with its stone cottages decked up for the festivities, with a brightly-lit welcoming village inn, complete with roaring log fire, of course – well this Christmas idyll can be yours, with a two-night festive stay at an C18th village inn on the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire.
Your invitation this season is to stay for two nights, arriving on Christmas Eve, where you can enjoy a cosy ambience and festive merriment in the smartly furnished pub bar and enjoy a delicious meal* in The Bar or their colourful Brasserie with its contemporary and colour-popping décor.
A full traditional Christmas luncheon will be served on Christmas Day itself – and with this gastro pub’s reputation for seasonal menus and freshly cooked dishes, you are reassured that it will be simply wonderful – starters include Chatsworth Gin Cured Salmon with fennel and pickled cucumber, Pressed Ham Hock Terrine, served with seared goose liver and cherries steeped in kirsch, and Twice Baked Cheese Souffle, served with mulled pears and celeriac remoulade, a prelude to a traditional Roast Turkey, with all the trimmings or Pan Roasted Hake or Spiced Pumpkin Cannelloni. Traditional Christmas pudding is offered alongside Iced Salted Caramel Parfait, with popcorn and dark chocolate, or those with more savoury taste will appreciate a tempting cheese platter, with accompaniments.
Christmas Day evening, there will be a hamper of local goodies delivered to your room, so that you can simply relax in comfort and enjoy a light tasty supper. With all this tasty food on offer, it’s a relief to know that there are many walks across open countryside straight from the village, whether you prefer a gentle stroll or a proper hike; or travel a little further to visit some of the region’s historic villages, such as Bakewell and Matlock, or even Buxton, England’s highest spa town – perhaps even treat yourselves to a little last minute festive shopping on Christmas Eve en route to Beeley.
Traditional cooked English breakfast is included for both days. Priced from only £359.50 per person, based upon two sharing a room. (*Dinner on Christmas Eve has a £33 p.p. allocation as part of your package)
