Sticky Beak Makes A Flying Visit To The Latest Bustler 'Street Food' Market

The Man and I were in Derby to review the new menu at Fahrenheit Bar and Grill at Genting Riverlights Casino and noticed that the Bustler Street Food Market was on. You may remember we attended the inaugural Bustler event and had a complete blast, so we decided to pop in and see how it was going on a Friday evening.

Let’s just say it was definitely a case of “Bustler by name, bustling by nature”; loads of people were soaking up the atmosphere. Brooklyn Social were spinning the tunes (great choices btw guys J) and the bar was doing a roaring trade. His Nibs and I recognised a couple of the stands from the first event but it was fantastic to see that the majority of stands were new; it just keeps things fresh and interesting I think.

The Italian Stallion team were creating their amazing pizzas fresh to order; I love their smaller sized pizza oven, it looks great. As I glanced around I caught sight of the Holy Moly Macaroni stall; if Chickadee had been with us that would’ve been her first port of call! I must admit, it did smell rather good and this stall had a long queue too - always a good sign.

Lots of the market attendees had little pots of Ice Cream in their hands, courtesy of Daltons Ice Cream. We went over to say “Hi” and managed to resist their ridiculously good offerings, don’t ask me how we did it; I think the knowledge that we were about to have a three course dinner reined in our gluttony!

There were plenty of families soaking up the friendly atmosphere as well as couples and groups of friends. Maybe some newbies to the University were dipping their toes into the vibrant Derby scene too, who knows?

The date for the next Bustler Street Food Market is Friday 27th and Saturday 28th October 2017. The event is open from 5pm-11pm on the Friday and from Noon until 11pm on the Saturday; entry is free until 7pm when a minimal entry fee of £2 is applicable. One of the traders at this event will be the Marketing Derby award winners, Lorentes, and their superb Tapas.

Other traders include English Indian, Gin Kitchen, Churromania, Melt Works, Buddha Belly (love that name!), Kebab Kartel, Suds and Soda, and Dicks Smoke House. I, for one, can’t wait to sample some of the great sounding food. Hopefully see you there :)

Bustler Market takes place on the last weekend of every month, Friday from 5pm, and Saturday from 12pm.

October – 27th/28th
November – 24th/25th
December - 22nd/23rd
