Something very special is happening to the food and drink scene in Derby. Behind the doors of the old Royal Hotel building on Victoria Street a revolution is taking place. The Cosy Club is shaping up and will fling open its doors on Friday 22nd April 2016 thanks to the Loungers Group. Loungers has invested £950K in the development creating 30 jobs for local people.
Quirky, eccentric and playful Cosy Club offers informal casual dining, drinking and lounging in a homely and family friendly environment. ‘Think gents club meets village hall meets cricket pavilion.’ Cosy Club's menu majors on comfort food classics as well as offering an extensive brunch menu, a decent variety of sandwiches, and a great selection of tapas.
Paul Alexander, Senior Operations Manager, Loungers, says: “We have been looking for a Derby location for some time and had specifically wanted a character property, rather than a purpose-built unit. We love putting Cosy Clubs into character buildings, we think it suits our brand and our quirky interiors. We are very good at making the most of a period building and accentuating its features through our design and this site has certainly given us plenty of scope to exercise our creativity!”
Mix matched tables and dining chairs, battered old cocktail armchairs, sleek 1930’s sofas and mid-century sideboards make you feel immediately at home. The walls are adorned with enormous rousing Soviet-era masterpieces, family portraits, flags, banners and iconic 50’s artwork peppered with the odd piece of taxidermy thrown in for good measure! Vast chandeliers hang dramatically next to industrial steel lamps and chintzy shades throwing light that is soft, sumptuous and elegant.
Whatever your tipple, Cosy Club aims to please. You can expect excellent coffee and cake, an imaginative choice of soft drinks, a great selection of draught beers, cider and ale, an enviable wine list and, to top it off, a nicely proportioned list of classic cocktails.
