Sausage & Cider Festival brings walking dinosaurs, live wrestling and retro gaming to Derby this summer
The Sausage and Cider Festival is coming back to Catton Park, Derbyshire, this summer. From Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th June, get ready for four days of family fun with a life sized T-Rex, a wrestling extravaganza and nostalgic retro gaming. Serving top notch food and music from many of the globe’s best tribute acts, including Bjorn Again, Rob Lamberti as George Michael and The Killerz, it’s the ultimate family party.
Walk alongside lifesize animatronic dinosaurs with Jurassic Earth Live at this year’s edition of the popular Festival. The family-friendly dino experience combines off-the-scale entertainment as it brings these remarkable dinosaurs to Derby. From 24th to 25th of June this year, marvel at the astoundingly realistic T-Rex and hear its mighty roar. Meet the velociraptors, Richie & Rocky, but don’t get too close - their teeth are very sharp and they might be hungry! Join in on the action and register as a trainee ranger at Dino Basecamp, or take a tour of The Hatchery and cuddle up to baby dinosaurs.
After making friends with pre-historic creations, come and see the best moves in the business as AI Snow Wrestling Academy put on a live wrestling show to remember. Created by former WWE legend & current TNA star Al Snow, the Academy will wow all ages with this extravaganza from wrestling pros in top-tier outfits.
On the other side of the festival, attendees will be able to put their Galaga skills to the test with Kapow Retro Gaming, the old school favourite. Available to both old and new gamers alike, visitors can explore the vast collection of consoles available from Nintendo and Sega Megadrive to n64 and arcade machines.
After perfecting your gaming skills, head to the Main Stage to see headliner Björn Again, the must-see parody band of 1970s Swedish Pop group ABBA. Fleetwood Bac will pay homage to the British-American rock band with an impressive sign of approval from Mick Fleetwood himself. Also coming for 2023 are Johnny 2 Bad - an 8-piece celebration of the legendary reggae act, UB40, who will be busting out classics like ‘Red Red Wine’. Finishing off the lineup is Rob Lamberti, Taylor Swift by Xenna, The Killerz and many more of the world’s top tribute acts.
With a large selection of food stalls, attendees can look forward to excellent street food - including the very best sausages - as well as an array of drink stands with over 20 varieties of cider to sample. Catton Park, located next to local gem Catton Hall, is in the heart of the National Forest and is equidistant from London, Manchester and Norwich - making it the ideal location for festival-goers from across the UK.
Organiser James Dean said of the upcoming event:
"Derbyshire’s Sausage and Cider Festival is for all the family, we are so excited to bring so many activities for all ages to enjoy together. Set in such a picturesque area in the Midlands, it is the ideal place to make memories and laugh together, whether that be with a T-Rex over your shoulder or watching amazing moves in the wrestling ring.”
