The Chilli Jam Man
Simon aka The Chilli Jam Man started making Chilli Jams to spice up his food after living in Australia for a few years, where the South East Asian flavours are seen so often. He only made small batches which were in high demand from his friends, so when the financial sector Simon worked in was hit by the recession, he decided to take the plunge and see if there was a business in it.
He turned up to his first market in 2009 with 40 jars and sold out by lunchtime, so decided to make some more. Making everything in-house, Simon now runs a small team and still prides himself in using the best ingredients.
The range has picked up several National Awards along the way. Simon also picked up a ‘Local Food Hero’ Award at the end of 2015, which was voted for by the public.
He still enjoys going to food festivals and events, and hearing first hand what people think about his products. A recent collaberation with York Brewery has also seen the fantastic ‘Mostly Ghostly’ join the range, which also includes Squealers pork scratchings, spice packs, chilli chocolate and chilli vodka.
His new ‘Rib Tickler’ sauces in a range of heats have been a huge hit with the BBQ industry, pubs and restaurants and are well on the way to being a kitchen essential.
With a 5 star food rating and achieving salsa accreditation early 2016, the company is going from strength to strength. Now Simon has decided the time is right to take the plunge into the gift market with his ‘Chilli Bombs’, a great eye catching range of gift sets, knowing that these fantastic artisan Chilli Jams taste as great as they look!
Free from artificial colourings and flavourings, and with a 3 year shelf life from manufacture, this award winning range spices up everything from sandwiches to stir fries, pasta to pizza and curries to chilli con carnes.
